Hogwarts Legacy 2 announcement roasted by fans

Hogwarts Legacy 2 announcement roasted by fans

There’s broom for improvement

Harry Potter fans are roasting the subtle Hogwarts Legacy 2 announcement, suggesting there’s plenty of room for improvement in the highly anticipated sequel.

Developed by Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic game and when it was first released in early 2023, it soon became clear that this is the Harry Potter game that fans have waited years for.

While Hogwarts Legacy 2 hasn't been officially revealed with a release date or trailer, Warner Bros. has confirmed a sequel is likely and it will possibly have a modern-day setting inspired by the upcoming Harry Potter TV series from HBO.

It’s fair to say that no matter how good a first game is, when it comes to a sequel, its successor must improve on its predecessor in almost every way. A few prime examples of that happening are Resident Evil 2, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Mass Effect 2.

Hogwarts Legacy sequel confirmed to be in the works and it’s a ‘big priority,” said Reddit user SuperLegenda, sharing an article from Variety which sparked fellow users to say what they’d like to see improved in the next title.

“Maybe they'll splurge and add a fourth enemy type,” said a brutal oneborkawayfromhell to which ZDTreefur responded, “No. You'll fight spiders for 100 hours and you'll like it.”

Redditor Raynzler listed their biggest gripes with the game including randomised loot, not enough going on in Hogwarts Castle, and no Dark Wizard consequences, as well as their desire for a better, team-based story.

“They should 100% be looking at Bully as inspiration,” suggests cheap_cola. “Smaller, personal stakes feel more real than a god-tier threat that a student has to take care of."

“I really liked the first one, although I thought the activities on the map ran out very quickly and the replay factor was practically non-existent,” explained a Reddit user.

It would be surprising if Hogwarts Legacy 2 isn't better than the original game because all it really needs is a few tweaks here and there, and some new additions.

Personally, I’d love to see dynamic friendships expanded, greater choice depth and more ending variations with that progress carrying over into a third game (if that happens). Oh, and a New Game Plus, of course.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
