Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima says that he wants to “become an AI and stick around”, and keep working with Kojima Productions forever.
Hideo Kojima is an enigma. He’s brought us so many incredible games over the years, and loves to tease us with mysterious projects. Recently, he revealed that he’s been working on an “unusual” Xbox exclusive game for “five or six years already”, and I for one am very excited to see what it is. He also recently announced at The Game Awards that Kojima Productions is indeed working on Death Stranding 2 - it’ll be a PS5 exclusive, and it looks stunning.
Take a look at the trailer for Death Stranding 2 below.
All in all, he’s a guy with a lot of big ideas, and it doesn’t sound like he’s even willing to let death stop him from sharing them with the world. In an interview with IGN Japan, Kojima was asked what philosophies he’d like to leave behind at Kojima Productions in 50 or 100 years' time, and he revealed that he thinks he’ll still be there - in a fashion.

“That's a good question. I've never really thought about that. I'll keep leading so long as I'm around, and all that matters to me is that our roots when it comes to creation are kept intact,” he said. “But you know, I'll probably become an AI and stick around. You need to be stimulated in lots of different ways if you want to keep creating new things, so I imagine I'll keep collaborating with others and taking in new things even if I'm an AI.”
Could we ever have expected anything less? Obviously, chances are that he was being sarcastic, but who knows what titles he’d come up with if he was able to live forever? You can't say you're not curious.
