Here at GAMINGbible, we've been saying for some time that the Pokémon franchise is in need of a substantial evolution. The main series' core formula is starting to wear thin, with Pokémon Sword & Shield proving that bigger and more ambitious changes are needed.
While we wait to see if Pokémon Legends: Arceus represents that change, one fan has offered their own take on the series' ultimate future. I'll be honest, it's not one I'm totally on board with.
Reddit user Dragon_GameDev has decided that they're going to make one small game or demo a month using Unreal Engine. These aren't fully developed games, obviously, but fun tech demos and strange concepts. Their latest offering? A first-person shooter that sees players gun down as many Pokémon as possible.
The premise of this Pokémon game is simple enough: instead of catching 'em all, what if you killed 'em all? And so it is players set out across a colourful world taking out charging monsters with an assault rifle. The likes of Pikachu, Arbok, and Nidoqueen are no match for the rampaging player. Hell, even Mewtwo can't stand against bullets, apparently.

In case you hadn't already worked it out, this Pokémon FPS is 100% unofficial and will almost certainly be shut down as soon as Nintendo gets a whiff of it.
That's kind of a shame, given the work that has clearly gone into it. The boss battles with legendary Pokémon are particularly impressive, especially given all their unique attacks. Who knows? If Pokémon Legends: Arceus doesn't work out, maybe Nintendo will give Dragon_GameDev a call. Probably not, though.
