If you’re a Grand Theft Auto fan, I need you to take a deep breath because what I’m about to say is going to infuse you with renewed hype so it’s best you enjoy a moment of calm first.
In and out.
Okay, with our heart rates lowered, I suppose you’re ready for me to tell you that Grand Theft Auto VI’s release date could be announced … this month.

It’s finally 2025, which means that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch this fall - and that’s fall in the Northern Hemisphere, so we’re talking about the months September, October, and November.
Beyond that though? Rockstar Games has been no more specific.
That’s not all that surprising. The studio hasn’t released anything beyond the game’s original reveal trailer, which leaves me somewhat scared.
Why? Well, a gameplay and release date reveal has got to land soon.

Rockstar is going to want to start marketing the game eventually, and there’s a very good theory as to why that may start imminently this month.
For now, you’ll have to watch that original trailer again.
This pattern was spotted by Twitter user GTAVI_Countdown, an account I’m sure is familiar to many of you.

They wrote, “GTA VI release date is expected to be revealed this month, as Rockstar has historically announced the final release dates for most recent major titles in January and before Take-Two’s earnings call in February.”
The evidence is there to back this up.
GTA IV’s release date was announced on 24 January 2008, while Max Payne 3’s was revealed on 17 January 2012, followed by GTA V’s on 31 January 2013.
Red Dead Redemption 2 slightly breaks the pattern, having confirmed its launch date on 1 February 2018, but it’s only one day out.

With Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two next set to hold an earnings call on Thursday 6 February, this theory feels very plausible, which means we could be getting that coveted release date in the next three weeks.
Let’s cross our fingers that GTA fans are finally right this time around.
