An insider has revealed that Grand Theft Auto VI will follow in Fortnite’s steps by introducing seasons and live events to its online mode.
Another day, another Grand Theft Auto VI rumour and this time it includes what we can expect from GTA 6 Online. With Grand Theft Auto V’s online community still active today with an average of 147,269 viewers this year, it’s no surprise that many fans are wanting to hear more about what they can expect from Grand Theft Auto VI’s online mode.
Take a look at the recent Grand Theft Auto Online: San Andreas Mercenaries below!
With no confirmation from Rockstar as of yet, one insider claims that it will follow the format of Fortnite Seasons. Fortnite Seasons go live every 10-12 weeks and feature map changes, weapon changes, live events and a brand-new Battle Pass. The insider, Tom Henderson, claims that ‘GTA 6’s Online mode is going to change over time, similar to Fortnite seasons, with live events’. If this is true, it will be a dramatic change for Rockstar who have yet to introduce seasons to Grand Theft Auto Online.

Not only does Henderson reveal news about the game’s online system but he also claims that Grand Theft Auto VI will be set in modern times, have multiple characters including a “female hacker”, will feature the return of Vice City, be released sometime in 2024-2025 and features a map that is “not as big as we expect it”. All this comes after a huge GTA 6 leak occurred earlier this month.
Leaks have already hinted at a male and female character known as Jason and Lucia as well as a look at a ‘tiny portion’ of the massive open-world map. Additionally, with no confirmation and tight lips from Rockstar, we can safely assume that Grand Theft Auto VI won’t be released until sometime in 2025. All that remains is leaks from insider sources but even then, they must be taken with a pinch of salt.
Until all the rumours are confirmed or denied, we will have to speculate as to what we can expect from Grand Theft Auto VI. For now, we will have to make do with epic fan trailers and the promise of another epic title in a much-loved series.
