Without question, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series is one of the biggest properties across all forms of entertainment, with fans eagerly awaiting the release of GTA VI.
Before we were graced with the record-breaking first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, leaks and rumours were plenty for the upcoming Rockstar Games title. However, if you thought that the leaks and rumours would now end due to its announcement, think again.

Despite knowing that Grand Theft Auto VI is on the way, we still know very little about the title. The story will follow ex-convicts Jason and Lucia, a duo said to be inspired by infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde. We also know that GTA VI will be taking us back to the Miami-inspired Vice City, the home of the popular GTA game of 2002. That being said, previous rumours have also claimed that GTA VI will have the largest map in the series and may even take us outside of Central America.

According to a recent Reddit post, an alleged PlayStation developer claims that GTA VI could implement some features from Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as being massive in terms of map size and gameplay mechanics.
It’s claimed that the GTA VI map will evolve over time. Whatever that means exactly is speculative. It could mean dynamic weather or new areas will be added at a later date. It’s also not mentioned whether the evolving map is related to the single-player campaign or GTA Online. However, the leak says that there are no plans for single-player DLC.
What’s more, it’s said that GTA VI will feature a mechanic called ‘Eagle Eye’ which is similar to the ‘Dead Eye’ in the Red Dead Redemption series which will allow the player to target items and presumably, limbs. It’s also claimed that GTA VI will have the highest number of mini-games ever seen in the Grand Theft Auto series which will include a new fishing game.

Taking inspiration from the Red Dead Redemption series once more, instead of featuring a legendary animal tracking system, GTA VI will reportedly do something very similar with luxury vehicles that can be discovered in the game each with unique modifications. There have been similar features in previous GTA games, but it looks like it will have more of an emphasis in the upcoming title. Players will also have an interaction menu with NPCs, offering different choices and story paths. NPCs, including police officers, will remember you and will act accordingly depending on your in-game actions.
Interestingly (and worryingly), the leaks claim that at some point, Rockstar Games had considered implementing a real-life form of cryptocurrency and NFTs in the game. Apparently, those plans have since been scrapped, thankfully. Of course, all of the above rumours should be taken with a generous pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
No solid release date has been announced for Grand Theft Auto VI, but it will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At this time, a PC release is yet to be announced.
