Loading times can be the bane of every gamer’s existence and have been since the beginning of time. We all remember acting like we didn’t care so our games would load faster but luckily it seems as though we won’t have to do that for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
As incredible as Grand Theft Auto V was when it was released in 2013, its loading times both for the main game and GTA Online were less than speedy. I can’t even tell you how many times I have seen that bikini-clad woman on the loading screen and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

However, according to leaked footage that has since been removed, Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to have much faster loading times, switching effortlessly between our two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, almost instantly.

In the footage, we saw a clip of Jason and Lucia hanging out in a motel but soon the player switches control over to Jason so he can head outside. The switch in question is instantaneous and shows no signs of GTA V character switching that took a pretty long amount of time. However, it was always funny switching to Trevor and seeing him passed out in the strangest of places.
With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ports making a drastic improvement in loading times, loading screens are becoming something of the past and is not something players are likely to miss any time soon. As a result, it seems likely that Rockstar will be taking full advantage of SSD loading times to make this 2025 release even more of a hit.
In related news, a recent rumour regarding Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date has fans worried at a potential 2026 delay. Let us hope this isn’t true!
