GTA 6 quietly confirms a Red Dead Redemption 2 crossover

Oh now this is very cool

Grand Theft Auto VI’s long-awaited second trailer arrived yesterday and while it didn’t provide much in the way of gameplay, it certainly featured enough to keep us mulling over.

I’ll admit, I didn’t think we’d see a trailer for months - especially as Rockstar Games recently delayed GTA VI to 26 May 2026.

My guess is that the studio wanted to impress Take-Two’s investors ahead of May’s earnings call as the game’s recent delay certainly will have affected 2025 revenue forecasts.

As you can imagine, fans have spent the last 24 hours pouring over every frame in the trailer.

Already, a returning character has been unearthed, as have a ridiculous number of side activities.

It even looks as if GTA VI will take us beyond the state of Leonida to neighbouring Gloriana, believed to be a version of real life Georgia.

It’s the discovery of Reddit user cph2001 that I want to draw your attention to though as it seems that GTA VI already features a confirmed crossover with Red Dead Redemption 2.

You can view that new trailer below.

“Just noticed that the presidents on the cash in the club screenshot seem to depict the same presidents from RDR2’s cigarette cards,” cph2001 wrote.

“Thaddeus Waxman and Franklin Hardin. Cool little detail,” they continued.

Very cool detail indeed although I’m not entirely sure we can say that GTA and Red Dead are a part of the same timeline as standard US place names are used in the latter, but you never know.

“GREAT catch,” replied noturaverageangelino.

“Wow. That's an AMAZING detail,” added Sea_Philosopher1080.

This all being said, perhaps they do share a timeline.

Yes, Red Dead’s characters refer to places like California but perhaps there’s lore that explains why it was changed to San Andreas?

I could be clutching at straws but the bottom line is that GTA VI already features a very cool Red Dead Redemption 2 Easter egg, and I’m almost certain it’s not the only one.

Fans have already spotted so much within the trailer that the final game itself is going to keep us busy for months - heck, even years.
