Grand Theft Auto VI may still be quite a few months away from release but that has not stopped fans from speculating as to how the highly-anticipated title will run on their chosen platform.
There is no denying that Grand Theft Auto VI is perhaps the most anticipated game of all time with Rockstar Games not having released a new entry in the series for well over a decade.

The sixth instalment will take players back to Vice City and will follow the escapades of Bonnie and Clyde-esque duo, Jason and Lucia.

With just one official trailer to its name, Rockstar is keeping quite tight-lipped about the finer details of Grand Theft Auto VI, including how it will run across console and eventually PC.
However, according to former Rockstar animator Mike York, there could be some bad news where that topic is involved.
Credited for his work on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V, York does not believe that GTA VI will be able to reach 60fps on any console at launch.
Speaking on the Kiwi Talkz podcast (courtesy of GamesRadar+), York was asked about his opinions on GTA VI’s potential performance.

"I don't know if they'll be able to pull off 60fps,” he admitted.
“I think they're gonna be shooting for 30fps – and a locked 30fps, meaning it never dips below that...I bet you, like, later, once it's on PC, it'll probably get super optimized and changed and new graphics cards that come out, and you'll be able to run it at 60fps probably at that time."
Despite Sony having recently released the PlayStation 5 Pro, titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 are still unavailable at 60fps despite the upgrades in technology so perhaps York’s comments are not too hard to believe.
"I don't think [the] initial release will come out at 60fps unless it's getting there by [using] an AI upscaler like PlayStation is doing, unless something is coming in and helping it get those 60fps,” York continued.

“I don't think it'll get the 60fps raw out the gate on a base console. Maybe PS5 Pro, or whatever, but I still don't think so."
The news is not good for potential GTA VI fans but you never know, the former Rockstar animator could be proved wrong and we have just a few months left until we find out.
