On 2 January, 2023, professional rally driver Ken Block passed away at the age of 55 as a result of a tragic accident. His passing rocked the world of motorsport, with outpourings of grief from those who were close to him, and fans from all corners of the globe have paid tribute to Block as both an athlete and role model.
“Devastating news about the loss of [Ken Block],” said the official Forza Horizon Twitter account earlier this week. “He was a legend in Motorsports and will be dearly missed. Our deepest condolences to his family and the team at @TheHoonigans.” Block's incredible gymkhana videos accumulated hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, showcasing the immense physical and mental fortitude necessary to pull of these stunts. As such, he was an obvious icon for games like Forza Horizon and Motorsport, as well as CSR Racing, Need for Speed 2015, Dirt Showdown, Dirt 3 and Colin McRae: Dirt 2.
We recently reported on the tributes that Forza Horizon 5 players are paying to the rally driver, driving his Hoonicorn (a modified 1965 Ford Mustang) around the game map and emulating his skill with drifting even the heaviest of cars in the same colour scheme as the Hoonigan Racing Division. Now, a group of petrolheads in Grand Theft Auto Online have created a gymkhana compilation recreating some of the most famous moments from Block's career. Take a look:

Reddit user xz_VyRus and their friends at TuttoAuto Official evidently put their hearts and souls into this - the Los Angeles drift starting out of the tunnel, recreating the drift under a bouncing car, balancing over a drop into water, drifting between moving excavators and more. This would require a lot of coordination on their parts in order to ensure that they didn't mess up and that the camera work did the stunt justice. Of course, it's been a huge hit with the community.
“This is really good. I wish y'all didn't have to make it. Still can't believe he isn't with us anymore,” said one. “I am definitely having a happy cry with this. This is wonderful and more than a fitting for a great man. May Ken Rest In Peace,” added another.
