In case you missed it, Grand Theft Auto V once again landed on Xbox Game Pass yesterday. It’s the perfect excuse to try the franchise out, if you haven’t already. It also just so happens to be the next-gen version so it may be fun to transfer your character over, if you’re still stuck using the Xbox One version.
Several other games were also announced to be landing on Xbox Game Pass very soon. Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is available now (cloud, console, and PC). McPixel3 (cloud, console, and PC) and Common’hood (cloud, console, and PC) will join the service on 11 July, as will Insurgency: Sandstorm (PC). On 14 July, subscribers will be able to enjoy Exoprimal (cloud, console, and PC), followed by a preview for Techtonica on 18 July (cloud, console, and PC). Finally, The Cave rounds us out on 18 July too (cloud and console). There’s plenty to enjoy but GTA V’s surprise drop actually seems to have divided many fans.

As many fans have pointed out over on Reddit, it’s not the first time GTA V has landed on Xbox Game Pass - and it likely won’t be the last time either. Rockstar has a habit of removing the game from the platform, only to re-add it further down the line. Many are concerned that they’ll move their characters over to the new-gen version, only to have it taken away in a few weeks or months.

Reddit user lickdoorknob wrote, “Don't trust Rockstar on this. They will yank it off Game Pass a month or two later and anyone who moved their characters to the next-gen version will have to buy it,” while TheOtherJackBlack added, “Isn't this like the fifth time they've put this on Game Pass?? It seems like every few months it disappears quietly and then gets put right back on as if it's something new for Game Pass.”
Capgunbandit said, “Wow a ten year old game coming to Game Pass. Hype.” Planchetflaw simply commented, “Again again.” It is somewhat of a repetitive addition. Then again, they do say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth.
