Ghost of Tsushima allegedly has an anime in production, that’s at least according to an industry insider.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the likes of the Sly Cooper and Infamous series’, when Ghost of Tsushima was originally released for PS4 in 2020, it not only became the studio's crown jewel but also one of the best games of its generation.
Set during the late 1200s, a Mongol fleet led by the ruthless Khotun Khan invades the small island of Tsushima, located on the coast of Japan. Khan raided, and pillage every village that his army passed through and would mercilessly kill anyone that dares try to stop them.
What’s more, Khotun Khan captures the island’s leader, Lord Shimura and is held captive in the hope of breaking the people's spirit and bending it to his will. Thankfully, Lord Shimura’s nephew, Jin Sakai is Tsushima’s only hope and in order to save the people, he must abandon much of his samurai code to become the ghost that his home needs.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 garnered a surprisingly underwhelming score of 83, but the user score would prove superior at 9.1. However, the critic score would fair better with the PS5 remaster with a more worthy 87.
Not only reaching the heights of critical acclaim from reviewers and fans alike, as of July 2022, Ghost of Tsushima sold over 9.73 million units, which not only validated talk of a sequel but a live-action movie was also greenlit by Sony.
Yet not content with a sequel and a live-action movie, as discussed on Reddit, it’s now reported that a Ghost of Tsushima anime is in the works. That’s at least according to a known anime leaker, @oecuf0.
This leaker of infamous leaker of anime information first tweeted a gif featuring Ghost of Tsushima, which on its own, isn't much to go by. However, a follow-up tweet teased the mention of two samurai games, one being a cross-platform title and the other being a PlayStation exclusive.

At this point, we already know that one of those games being talked about is Ghost of Tsushima, but our other suspicions were confirmed that the second samurai game, the one that is cross-platform, is none other than FromSoftware’s, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. So could this mean that we’re not only getting a Ghost of Tsushima anime, but a Sekiro anime too? We certainly hope so.
Earlier this month, the same anime leaker teased a PlayStation adaptation, so perhaps these stories are one and the same. Hopefully with the next PlayStation Showcase event taking place next week, both the Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime series’ will be officially announced.
