The world is finally going to get Stalker 2. In September 2024, Stalker 2 will have seen its final delay and come out of the “oven”.
It was noted recently that GSC Game World has announced that the game, which would have originally released in the first quarter of 2024, is getting one last delay. While the developer acknowledged that the delay was upsetting, they also mentioned that the game needs “more time in the oven” for the technical side of the game.
Stalker 2 is finally releasing in September 2024
After a demo at Gamescom last year, it’s clear the game looks and feels like a Stalker game, but some last-minute creases need a spot of ironing. Mentioned in the team’s announcement they said, “Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding the limits of the players’ patience, GSC was absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024. That, however, doesn’t change the fact that at the beginning of this year, certain technical imperfections still hold Stalker 2 below the expected standards for the final experience the fans are waiting for."
Advert
The development process of Stalker 2 has been a difficult one; originally the game was delayed due to studio closures, but more recently development had to pause after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where the development team is predominantly based. The team was then hit emotionally after a cyberattack by Russia, leaving yet another mark on the development cycle.
This should be the final delay and we all hope the game is a huge success - the original Stalker game was a smash hit. The team deserves a win after putting in long and turbulent hours. Thankfully, everything we’ve seen up to now looks brilliant, though it’s going to be difficult to play a game so embroiled in war when Ukraine is still feeling the effects of a real war on its doorstep.
