Earlier this year saw Ubisoft release its free-to-play first-person shooter but it has recently come under fire for its questionable new update.
Released in May, XDefiant is Ubisoft’s dive into the FPS genre and has gone on to receive quite mixed reviews since its launch.

Competing in fast-paced online matches, players go up against each other in standard shooting matches but the title is reportedly let down by sluggish weapon progression and lack of originality.

However, as part of its live-service mode, XDefiant is often seen flying the flag for other Ubisoft titles including Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, Far Cry 6 and The Division.
Now with Season 2 on the horizon, XDefiant’s next crossover Faction will reportedly be Far Cry New Dawn.
Released in 2019, New Dawn was a spin-off and sequel to Far Cry 5 and received mainly positive reviews.
However, its crossover with XDefiant is not being received well by fans due to some worrisome abilities.

According to leaks, Far Cry New Dawn’s collab will feature quite an overpowered kit which includes grenade launches and turrets.
In the replies to a post leaking the new collaboration, fans of the shooter were quick to express their frustration with yet another unbalanced update.
“We need to stop adding grenade launchers and shields into games,” one reply read.
Another said: “Why do you insist on ruining the aspects of this game that made it better than COD? Riot shields, noob tubes... continue down this path and you'll end up just being a low budget COD.”

With XDefiant already being criticised for its lack of originality, adding this new kit is not going to help Ubisoft’s cause.
However, it seems as though the biggest source of frustration comes from the distinct lack of one important Ubisoft franchise: Assassin’s Creed.
“Ok I’ve come to terms that they are purposely p**sing me off,” another comment read.
“Where is the Assassin’s Creed character?”

It remains to be seen if these XDefiant leaks are true but if they are, Ubisoft should be ready for one unhappy fanbase.
