It's fair to say that the Far Cry games have been getting increasingly stale and are in desperate need of some new ideas. But damnit all if they aren't still an explosive way to spend the weekend every now and then.
Far Cry 5 is, like Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 3 before it, a pretty formulaic Ubisoft open-world action game. But that doesn't mean it's not worth your time! There's still plenty of fun to be had in the fictional Hope County, Montana. That's why Xbox Game Pass subscribers everywhere should be excited about the fact they're about to get it for free.

As confirmed by Xbox earlier this week, Far Cry 5 will be joining the popular subscription service from July 1, and is well worth checking out for anyone looking for a fun, mindless shooter.

Even better, you don't actually need an Xbox to try out Far Cry 5 for free! If you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, it'll be available via console, cloud, and PC. That means you can play it on pretty much any device with a screen and an internet connection.
While Far Cry 5 is the headliner, Xbox Game Pass is also getting some other solid additions. The Shadowrun Trilogy (cloud and console) and Total War: Three Kingdoms (PC) are available on the service right now, while FIFA 22 (console and PC) lands Thursday, June 23.
