Fallout: London is no ordinary mod. In fact, it’s one of the most ambitious fan projects I’ve ever come across. Unsurprisingly set in London, the upcoming fan-created expansion will serve as a full-sized unofficial DLC to Fallout 4.
The project is so impressive that it’s even caught Bethesda’s eye. Last year, one of Fallout: London’s creators, Dean ‘Prilladog’ Carter was offered a dev job at Bethesda working on Fallout 76 but actually turned the opportunity down to continue working on the expansion. At the time, the team said, “It is worth remembering that many people try and use large-scale mod projects like this for pure CV padding and routes into the industry. But some people like Dean do it truly for the community, for the team, for you. It isn't easy to turn down your life's dream to return to working on a project for free, so I've given him this mention as his selflessness and dedication to the team is something we should all appreciate.”
Take a look at Fallout: London in action below.
Fellow team member Ryan ‘Ropiequet’ Johnson did accept a job with Bethesda as an associate level designer, but his departure has not affected the project’s development. That being said, it does appear that Fallout: London’s release is being delayed by the upcoming release of Starfield.
Advert
As reported by DSOGaming, Fallout: London was originally due to release in Q3 2023 which runs from July to September but it’s now been announced that it’ll release in Q4 instead. This runs from October to December. If you didn’t know, Starfield is set to release on 6 September and will (I’d imagine) occupy the attention of many Bethesda fans for quite some time, so this feels like a sensible move from the Fallout: London team.
Fallout: London is compatible with Fallout 4 and acts as a continuation of the base game. In addition to this new setting, the mod will also include new factions, storylines, NPCs, weapons and creatures. Hopefully, it is worth the wait.
