If you are a fan of Fallout and a fan of free stuff then you are in for a treat this week as Steam is giving players the chance to get their hands on a 2018 action RPG at no extra cost.
Despite a rocky launch, Fallout 76 has gone from strength to strength in recent years with Bethesda clearly putting work into the most recent Fallout instalment. Set twenty-five years into a post-nuclear America, you play as a Vault Dweller who must navigate their way around a radioactive wasteland. Unlike previous Fallout entries, Fallout 76 is an open-world multiplayer version of the franchise, allowing you to team up with friends in the “largest, most dynamic world ever created in the legendary Fallout universe.”

With some players having missed out due to the game’s rocky launch, Steam is giving them the chance to experience Fallout 76 for the first time by offering the chance to play for free. For the next five days at the time of writing this, the game is free to download which is a huge offer considering the game is usually priced at around £35.

Not only can you experience the typical multiplayer shenanigans, you will also be able to dive into an immersive main quest which will see you uncover the secrets of West Virginia. “Befriend or betray new neighbours who have come to rebuild, and experience Appalachia through the eyes of its residents,” the Steam synopsis reads. Additionally, you will be able to take part in the Seasonal Scoreboard which rewards you with a free set of rewards like “consumables, C.A.M.P. items and more, by completing limited-time challenges.”
The multiplayer aspect of Fallout 76 brings a unique take to the franchise by allowing you to create your own Vault Dweller that can choose their own path and reputation along the way, whether that is through journeying alone or with friends.
This is also the perfect time to dive into the Bethesda title with the arrival of Fallout 76: Atlantic City later this year.
