A quick development update for Fallout 5 has been shared by Todd Howard, though unfortunately it isn’t good news.
The Fallout series is arguably as popular as it’s ever been right now thanks to the fantastic Amazon Prime TV series.

Fortunately for new and old fans there’s no better time to play the games, most of which can be played at no additional cost on Xbox Game Pass if you’re on Xbox or PC.

While many have had a deep-dive into Fallout 4’s latest next-gen update, or revisiting classics like Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3, both of which are enhanced for 4K resolution and 60fps, many have also been looking to the future.
Fallout 5 has already been confirmed by Bethesda, which has stated it’ll enter full-time development after the release of The Elder Scrolls VI.
This does mean fans have a very long wait ahead of them before they can roam the nuclear wastelands once again, and a quick development update from Bethesda exec Todd Howard isn’t helping either.
In a recent interview with IGN, Howard was asked if there were any updates regarding Fallout 5’s release window.

Howard said: "I'm going to avoid putting dates on anything. I've learned that the hard way … So obviously, our focus as far as new development right now is Elder Scrolls VI, but that doesn't mean that we're not making plans for other things."
This sounds like there are at least concepts and perhaps even early builds of Fallout 5 currently in the works, though of course full-on development shouldn’t be expected until Elder Scrolls VI either about to release or is already available.
Not the update we were hoping for, but then again what did we expect considering how long Bethesda usually takes to launch its next mainline game.
