Chris Hemsworth confirms Idris Elba is joining the fellow MCU star in Extraction 2.

The first Extraction movie was released exclusively on Netflix in April 2020 and despite not expecting much from it, it ended up being quite an enjoyable action flick. On Rotten Tomatoes, Extraction earned scores of 67% from critics and 70% from the audience.

So no doubt, fans will be expecting bigger and better things from the upcoming sequel, and as reported by Dexerto, with the casting of the charismatic Idris Elba, it’s already gotten off to a great start.

In the first movie, Chris Hemsworth plays a black ops merc (Tyler Rake), sent on a mission to save the son of a kidnapped Indian crime lord. However, as you can guess, not everything goes according to plan when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan.

In Extraction 2, Rake is presumed dead but is soon called back into action, this time to rescue a Georgian gangster’s family from a prison in which they are being held. It seems this sequel will be just as silly with over-the-top action, and we wouldn't want it any other way.

Previously, the duo had worked alongside each other in the MCU’s Thor movies with Hemsworth playing the God of Thunder and Elba playing Heimdall.

Chris Hemsworth welcomed his new co-star to the sequel in a tweet which featured a clip from the movie. “Good to have Idris Elba join the Extraction team,” tweeted the Australian Hollywood star.

Followers on Twitter were seemingly over the moon about the duo teaming up in the Netflix exclusive movie. “u mean Thor and Heimdall reunited in another universe,” replied rainybowsky. “Damn, can’t wait. If it is half as good as the first one, it will be awesome,” said nic_smethwick.

Extraction 2 arrives on Netflix next week on Friday, 16 June 2023. Back in November 2022, Chris Hemsworth took a step back from acting due to an Alzheimer’s gene diagnosis, so it’s nice to see him back in action.
