Harry Potter Sequel Announced Amid Wait For Hogwarts Legacy 2

Harry Potter already gets a sequel approved while fans are still waiting for news on Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Undoubtedly, Hogwarts Legacy was one of the video game industry’s biggest success stories when it launched in early 2023. It not only became the action RPG that Harry Potter fans had craved for years, but it is also the best-selling game of that year.

So, it’s quite baffling that publisher Warner Bros. Games is yet to officially announce Hogwarts Legacy 2. Sure, we’ve had some rumblings that the sequel is on the way, but now that three years have passed since the original launch, perhaps that announcement is long overdue?

Harry Potter Gets an Unexpected Sequel Confirmed

As reported by Variety, the upcoming Harry Potter live-action series from HBO has already had season two renewed. Sure, it might not be unexpected that season two is confirmed, but it is a little surprising when we consider that season one is still roughly seven months away from its premiere episode.

HBO has officially greenlit Season 2 of its upcoming "Harry Potter" series, which will adapt "Chamber of Secrets."

“HBO planning a full decade-long Harry Potter adaptation is either incredibly ambitious… or incredibly risky. Either way, we are excited and will be watching,” said NitPickCentral, replying to the tweet from Variety.

At the very least, it shows that Warner Bros. has a lot of faith in its upcoming series. To be honest, whatever you may or may not think of the series at the moment, many might agree that the Harry Potter series will prove to be a major success one way or another.

Where is Hogwarts Legacy 2?

At the time of writing, it’s nowhere to be seen. There have been job advertisements for vacancies at its developer, Avalanche Software, and it’s been teased that Hogwarts Legacy 2 could have a modern-day setting. However, no official confirmation has been made public.

Of course, as soon as we get any sort of official confirmation on the status of Hogwarts Legacy 2, we’ll be sure to let you know. Could Summer Game Fest in June 2026 host its highly anticipated reveal? Only time will tell.

When Does the Harry Potter HBO Series Premiere?

While it doesn't have a confirmed release date just yet, we do know that it will premiere on HBO Max and Sky Atlantic in December 2026. We also know that season one will be inspired by the Chamber of Secrets.

As for Hogwarts Legacy, that’s available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
