Those of you wishing to get Fallout 5 sooner rather than later may have invoked the curse of the monkey’s paw, because some insiders believe that the recent success of the Fallout franchise may delay the release of The Elder Scrolls VI.
During an episode of the Xbox Two Podcast, Windows Central journalist Jez Corden revealed that the popularity of Amazon’s Fallout TV show has inspired Microsoft and Bethesda to speed up the development of Fallout 5.
Now, before you properly start freaking out, there’s nothing concrete here. It’s just a rumour.

And, even if Microsoft and Bethesda do want to get a new Fallout game out ASAP… that doesn’t mean Bethesda has to be the ones to actually make it.
After all, Microsoft does own this other little developer called Obsidian Entertainment. You know, the folks that made Fallout: New Vegas?
Even if they do want to move ahead with another Fallout title immediately, that shouldn’t actually impact the release of the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI.
Take a look at TESVI's original reveal trailer below.
Someone should probably tell a few of the folks over on the r/TESVI subreddit that though, as there were quite a few angry comments in a thread discussing the news.

“I don’t care who makes Fallout 5, as long as they don’t delay TES VI,” replied user logicality77.
“Fallout had their turn, and they can’t milk Skyrim and ESO forever. Yeah, Fallout is popular right now, but did it sell 60 million copies?”
“If Bethesda puts another game out before ES6 I will lose my proverbial s**t,” commented user faxtfox.
I don’t think Bethesda want to delay The Elder Scrolls VI any longer than they have to, so personally I don’t think you should put any stock in this.

They’re not gonna tank one of their most popular properties just so they can make a new game about their other most popular property. It makes absolutely zero sense.
Still would be awfully nice to see another trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI one of these days though…
