For over six years, The Elder Scrolls fans have been starved of official news regarding the sixth mainline entry in the series but could its biggest tease yet be right under our noses?
When The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E32018 it was met with a round of applause from those in attendance with that excitement was felt by those watching the livestream at home. Sadly, however, since that time, Bethesda has given us practically nothing with many fans believing that The Elder Scrolls VI could be a next-gen title.

Quite remarkably, Bethesda hasn't announced a release date for The Elder Scrolls VI, what platforms it will be released on or any gameplay. All we’ve had since that 2018 reveal is snippets of information here and there but nothing all that substantial.

On Reddit, user StarcrossKnight has broken down some of the most notable news related to The Elder Scrolls VI since its reveal which perhaps gives us somewhat of a timeline of its development progress. One of the most recent bits of information shared was on the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls revealing that an early build of the fantasy RPG exists.
However, Reddit user Ninja_Wiener_123 mentioned an interview by Lex Fridman with Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard from November 2022. During this interview, Howard mentioned that they’ve worked out the first few hours of The Elder Scrolls VI.

Additionally, work on the character creation has begun as well the skill system and music of The Elder Scrolls VI are in production. It’s worth keeping in mind that this interview is from a couple of years ago, so it’s more than likely that the game has progressed much further since then.
Hopefully, Bethesda will provide us with a substantial update on The Elder Scrolls VI by the time we get to the next Xbox Games Showcase which is expected to take place in June 2025 during the Summer Game Fest season.
