The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fan remake trailer is drop-dead gorgeous and we want the real thing now!

Released way back in 2006 for PC and Xbox 360, then a year later for PlayStation 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was met with high critical acclaim and is widely considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time, with scores of 94 on Metacritic, that opinion is difficult to dispute.

While the likes of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind might be the Bethesda RPG to kind of go mainstream, it was arguably Oblivion that set the foundations for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

What’s more, with Skyrim being the benefactor of a new-gen update courtesy of the 10th Anniversary Edition, fans have longed for Oblivion to receive the same. Sadly, it seems that will never be the case, at least officially.

However, talented artist Greg Coulthard has put together their own Oblivion remake and it looks drop-dead gorgeous. I’ll hand on heart say that Oblivion is my favourite Bethesda RPG and it’s a reason a maxed out all my Xbox 360 gamerscore, including the expansion.

Upon moments of watching the fan-made remake trailer, the mesmerising soundtrack and the wildlife ambience smacked me in the face like a frozen kipper. It really is a joy to behold.

The Oblivion remake is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and it looks like it's harnessing the power of its technology to full effect. If only Bethesda would give us the real thing, despite being hard at work on the illusive The Elder Scrolls VI which was announced five years ago in 2018.

In related The Elder Scrolls news, a modder has worked hard to bring us the Skyrim: Dawnguard expansion that Bethesda never world and it looks to be a treat for wannabe creatures of the night.
