'Elden Ring' Smashes Into Top 10 Best-Selling Games In US History

'Elden Ring' Smashes Into Top 10 Best-Selling Games In US History

As well as being predicted to be 2022's best-selling premium game in the US, Elden Ring has apparently entered the all-time top 10 list.

All these months on from its release, and Elden Ring just keeps on making the headlines, for a multitude of reasons. Only last week, many players discovered for the first time that you can get a very special secret summon to help out in the Morgott boss fight in Leyndell Royal Capital, while one other legend of a player broke the game’s clock after maxing out their playtime, which is absolutely wild. It is a good game, to be fair.

Back in March, it was confirmed that in just over a month, the game had sold a colossal 13.4 million copies - over three times more than Bandai Namco had expected. Achieving half of the Dark Souls franchise’s combined lifetime sales in such little time was undeniably impressive, but now it seems that the title has reached even greater heights.

Did you know it's possible to beat Elden Ring with a dance mat? Yes, really. Take a look below.

As reported by Forbes, NPD’s Mat Piscatella has apparently claimed that FromSoftware’s open-world titan has made its way into the top 10 best-selling premium games in the US, of all time. Unfortunately, no actual figures have been given here, nor has the game’s ranking within that top 10 been revealed, but as Forbes writes, it’s most likely to be nearer the bottom given that the news has only just been announced. Regardless, it’s a fantastic achievement.

Earlier this month, the NPD also revealed that Elden Ring is predicted to be the best-selling premium game in the US this year, beating God of War: RagnarökPokémon Scarlet and Violet, and even Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare II, in the process. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that CoD always sells well, but to put it into perspective, it’d be only the third time since 2009 that a title from the series wasn’t sat pretty at the top of the list. GG, FromSoftware.
