If a major video game doesn't get review bombed by angry gamers within the first few weeks of release, does it even really exist?
This year alone, both Horizon Forbidden West and Dying Light 2 have been unfairly hit with scores of 0 and 1 by fans on Metacritic for (arguably) minor issues. Now, it seems it's Elden Ring's turn for a pummeling.

GAMINGbible's 10/10 review of Elden Ring hailed the game as a modern masterpiece, and FromSoftware's best game to date. Judging by the wider critical reaction, it would appear we won't alone in feeling this way.

Unfortunately, not everyone agrees. Over on Metacritic, the game's PC version currently has a user score of 6.0. That's in stark contrast to its incredibly impressive critic score of 95. So, what's going on?
Of Elden Ring's 1261 user reviews, 500 are negative. It's no secret that the PC version of the game has been suffering from some performance issues, but gamers going straight to hitting the game with a zero seems more than a little harsh.
"Massive stuttering issues and NO ULTRAWIDE SUPPORT. Those are deals breakers for me," wrote one particularly reasonable gamer.
"Console port with no effort or care taken. 60fps lock bad. No Ultrawide support. No Vsync disable option. No 144hz support. Also bad performance and stutter and poor controller support," added another in a 0/10 review.

While I can certainly understand some of the frustrations surrounding the game's performance issues, there are also a handful of reviews that seem to completely miss the point of what the game is trying to do. One 2/10 review seems to blast the game for not being Red Dead Redemption 2, calling it an "insult to gaming". Another reckons it's a "bad copy of Dark Souls", which... I don't know what to do with that.
