It sounds as if it’s time to embark on yet another Elden Ring playthrough, uh oh. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has just confessed that players have not yet discovered all that the Lands Between has to offer.
Elden Ring-mania is well and truly back, thanks to the reveal of upcoming expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. Set to launch on 21 June, Shadow of the Erdtree will take players to the Land of Shadow guided by Miquella. Already, fans (ourselves included) have been scanning every frame of the trailer for clues. It certainly looks as if we’re going to have to fight a new version of one of the base game’s toughest bosses - and that’s not even to mention what looks like Malenia 2.0. Judging by the price of Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansion looks set to be a big one. In fact, its size is reportedly comparable to that of Limgrave but before we dive in, we seemingly need to venture into the base game once more.
Take a look at Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree in action below.
In a new interview with IGN, Elden Ring’s Miyazaki confessed that while he’s “always surprised and delighted” by what fans discover in his games, there’s actually one element of Elden Ring that, to his knowledge, remains unearthed.

“For me personally, there is a small element that I feel has not yet been discovered,” he said. “So, whether that’s up to user interpretation or up to just further investigation and playing, that’s something I’m looking forward to. I think it’s a question of when and not if, but there may be something small still missing.”
Given that he described it as a “small element”, I shouldn’t think we’re overlooking anything obvious. Thanks to dataminers, we know that we’ve uncovered every boss and weapon. With that in mind, it’s more likely that this element is a particular piece of lore that hasn’t been spotted yet - or if it has, it hasn’t been prominently brought to light. I wonder how long it is before Miyazaki takes pity on us and shares this tidbit of information. In the meantime, get scouring my fellow Tarnished.
