The Mandalorian is easily one of the hottest properties for Star Wars right now. Since its first appearance on Disney+ way back in 2019, fans have been enamoured with the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu as they travel across the galaxy.
It was just announced during the ongoing Star Wars Celebration taking place in Anaheim, California that The Mandalorian season three will be releasing February 2023, and will pick up where Djarin’s story left off at the end of his cameo spots in The Book Of Boba Fett.
What with it being such a big deal for the house of mouse (you can barely navigate five minutes while online shopping without coming across a piece of Mando merch) and the video game industry being a space where a lot of TV and film characters find homes, it’s a wonder that the bounty hunter hasn’t landed his own game yet.

It’s a question that GAMINGbible put to Kathleen Kennedy during a recent chat, where the Lucasfilm president was keen to address the subject. Check out what she had to say below.
“I think adapting Star Wars to a lot of different platforms and mediums is exactly what is great about [it] and we do discuss that all the time. That’s why we do so many things with Fortnite and whatnot - we have a really good relationship with Epic and the work that they’re doing - there is a lot of conversation. Just like with Monkey Island coming back and everybody wanting to talk about [Knights of the] Old Republic and also talking about The Mandalorian, so, gaming is a really, really important thing for us and you’ll see more of that.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but to me that certainly sounds like Disney are having conversations about a standalone Mandalorian game. You only have to look at the current crop of upcoming Star Wars games like Star Wars: Eclipse, the aforementioned Knights of the Old Republic Remake and of course Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, sequel to the wildly popular Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, to see that the market for titles set in the galaxy far, far away is rich.

But what would a Mando game look like? Well for me, it’d have to be a single player experience - Din Djarin is a lone wolf, after all. We’d also have to see him overcoming insurmountable odds to keep Grogu out of trouble, or just to stop him from eating a space frog. Either could work. Fans of a certain age will remember that in 2002 we did get a game called Star Wars: Bounty Hunter which starred Jango Fett doing just that - hunting bounties. Could a Mandalorian game follow a similar premise in an open world with today’s graphical capabilities? You wouldn’t be able to stop me from playing that.
