Time does indeed fly and I can’t believe it’s already been a year since the world lost actor Lance Reddick. Known for his various roles across TV and film, Reddick became a fixture in the lives of many. However, it’s because of his role in Destiny that many gamers will know his voice.
Reddick played the part of Commander Zavala for years, always being a fixture at The Tower, talking to players every day, often leading the story. His passing a year ago shocked and saddened the Destiny community and, on the anniversary of his death, 17 March, the fans came together again to hold tribute.
The current Destiny 2 storyline will come to an end with The Final Shape.
Players discussed the actor and the connection they have with him on Reddit. The post started with the OP hoping that Bungie would commemorate Reddick in some way; some even shared images of Destiny guardians gathered around Zavala in-game taking a knee or saluting him. Most of the comments are simple, such as this from one user: “RIP our great Commander. You are dearly missed.”

Others have told stories of their connection with Destiny 2: “Usually, I don't get affected by celebrity deaths. It's life, it happens, I didn't know them, it sucks for their family but it has little impact on my life. Lance's death hit me, it felt like a good part of my life is over.”
Many commenters are talking about the passing of time and how it gets faster as we get older. Several users were shocked to hear that it’s been a year already. One Redditor quoted their (and my) favourite line Reddick delivered, “‘And send their souls screaming back to hell!' Never get tired of hearing that line. Rest in power, Lance.”
