Earlier this week, it was confirmed that a further two DC shows are being cancelled, but not everyone thinks this is bad news.
Titans (a “gritty” take on Teen Titans) and Doom Patrol (a comedy drama about a team of downtrodden superheroes) are both coming to a close after four seasons. Co-chairman and CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, wrote on Twitter: “The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows.”

This isn’t the first time in recent months that something has been suddenly wiped from the DC slate. Last year, Batgirl got unexpectedly cancelled, which many were understandably disappointed about. However, this time round, many have a completely different attitude. Over on Reddit, many DC fans have expressed that it’s a relief that Titans is finally being shelved.

“Thank goodness Titans is gone,” CDubWill wrote, responding to the news. “Underrated comment. It really was awful,” replied mdj1359. “Titans should’ve been cancelled after the first episode lol,” commented xAyjay18. “I'm really glad they're cancelling Titans so we can pretend it never happened. So dumb to stray so far from the source material,” added DefenderTitan.
It’s certainly not very often that we see this sort of response to shows being axed. Netflix subscribers have been incredibly frustrated this year following the news of a number of fan-favourite shows being cancelled. The period drama 1899 has been shelved after just one season, which prompted its fanbase to start a petition in an attempt to save it and get their unanswered questions about the story addressed.
Doom Patrol's fourth season came to a close earlier this month, as Titans' did in December, so at least existing fans of the shows got to see those final seasons play out fully before the cancellation.
