When Dante’s Inferno was released in 2010, it was a year that offered us some truly amazing video games such as Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and much more.
It’s a testament that 13 years after Dante’s Inferno was originally released in a year in which many games would have been lost in the shuffle, it’s still looked upon so fondly by fans to this very day. This often begs the question, why hasn't publisher Electronic Arts given Dante’s Inferno a remake, remaster or sequel?
Check out the Dante’s Inferno trailer below!
Developed by the now defunct Visceral Games, the same studio that brought us the original Dead Space series, Dante’s Inferno was inspired by the historical poem, Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Dante’s Inferno took players through the various stages of hell and with its gameplay inspired by the classic God of War titles, its action was high octane and had some epic boss battles.

Fans on Reddit have been reminiscing about Dante’s Inferno. “I still can't get over how epic Dante Inferno's beginning is when you fight the Grim Reaper, Death himself,” said Redditor AshenRathian, kicking off the discussion on the thread. “Dante puts up so much of a fight that Death basically begs him to let him win, and as soon as Dante grabs his scythe he is BEGGING FOR HIS LIFE! Seriously, there is nothing quite as epic as this right here.”

“Visceral had some fantastic games and this (as well as Dead Space) was absolutely one of them! I miss Visceral,” exclaimed Boncester2018 feeling all of our pain. “I miss them too. I still can't get over how this game ended on a cliffhanger that never got resolved,” AshenRathian replied.
“It's criminal how this game never got a part two or at least a remake,” said an agitated GONA_B_L8. “I recently played this on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate! For a 13-year-old game I absolutely loved it, atmosphere, gameplay, story, checked all the boxes, needs a sequel or remaster for sure,” a joyous eldwinddnd told the thread.
Whether Electronic Arts ever decides to give us a sequel or remake, remains to be seen, but judging by the Reddit thread featured in this article alone, it’s certainly something that many fans would love to see. Perhaps following the recent success of the Dead Space remake, EA might one day consider bringing Dante’s Inferno to a new audience.
Dante’s Inferno is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so if you want to see what all the fuss is about, I can wholeheartedly recommend checking it out. Then when you’re done, politely tell EA to give us a new Dante’s Inferno, please.
