Daniel Radcliffe shuts down Wolverine casting rumours for good

Daniel Radcliffe shuts down Wolverine casting rumours for good

Radcliffe confirmed that the rumours are false, and that he doesn't want to get "locked into something" he's not sure he'll love forever.

People love their fan castings, and sometimes, studios enjoy making dreams come true. Hey, that’s the reason that one certain actor was chosen for a particular role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earlier this year (which I won’t say here just in case you’ve not seen it yet).

For a while now, there have been rumours circulating that Daniel Radcliffe could take on the role of Wolverine, in place of Hugh Jackman. I can’t say that I can imagine the Harry Potter star having the same on-screen presence as Jackman, but he’s a talented actor, that’s for sure.

Harry Potter fans are all gearing up for the release of Hogwarts Legacy next year - check out a tour of the four houses in the game below.

Earlier this year, it seemed that Radcliffe may actually be up for the role. He clarified that nothing was happening at that moment, but he didn’t seem opposed to the idea: “Like, I appreciate that somebody is clearly going like 'Wolverine's actually short in the comic books, you should get like a short guy to do it,’” he said at the time. “But I don't see myself, I don't see them going from Hugh Jackman to me. But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel.”

Unfortunately for those hoping to see this pipe dream become a reality, the star has now pretty much shut it down completely. In an interview with GQ, he once again asserted that the rumours are totally unfounded.

“It’s purely a press tour rumour; I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth,” he said. “I just don't ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”

After so many years of working on the Harry Potter movies, you can totally understand his mindset here. Oh well, onto the next fan casting, then?
