I’d imagine the folks over at CD Projekt Red are releasing a huge sigh of relief right about now. As I’m sure you’re aware, Cyberpunk 2077 had what you might call an abysmal release. The game was ridden with bugs and glitches, with many players completely abandoning the title. Thanks to this year’s new-gen patch plus the well-timed release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally living up to its potential and it’s got the player count to prove it.

Cyberpunk 2077’s current in-game player count has officially surpassed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s all-time peak. As pointed out by Twitter user BenjiSales, Cyberpunk 2077 recently had an in-game player count of 104,827 whereas The Witcher 3’s all-time peak sits at 103,329. Seeing as Cyberpunk 2077 released almost two years ago, the developers must be thrilled with the game’s recent renaissance.
That number has since increased to higher heights. At the time of writing, Steam Database reports that Cyberpunk 2077 has had 136,724 players in the last 24 hours. It doesn't quite match the game’s all-time peak of 1,054,388 shortly after release but to have 136,724 active players is impressive for a game with a trajectory like Cyberpunk 2077.
