What a year 2023 was for Cyberpunk 2077. It is so delightful to see the game finally reach its full potential.
Update 2.0 completely overhauled the game, redesigning its cyberware and perks, whilst introducing a new relic skill tree, vehicles, vehicular combat, mounted weaponry, and dynamic events, alongside increasing the level cap. Shortly after the update, fans deemed Cyberpunk 2077 to be one of the greatest games ever created. This is before the surprise Update 2.1 added a metro system. Then came the release of the excellent Phantom Liberty expansion which I urge you to play if you haven’t already. Players quickly said that had Cyberpunk 2077 been originally released in its 2023 state, it would’ve easily won Game of the Year, and I fully agree.
Take a look at Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in action below.
It’s music to our ears then that a sequel has already been confirmed. It could be some time before the mysterious Project Orion releases given that devs are hard at work on the next instalment in The Witcher series. Despite that, fans think they’ve found out where the sequel might be set. How, I hear ye ask?

As reported by Dexerto, fans have noticed that one billboard in particular pops up abundantly across Night City. Reddit user QueenCobra91 posed the question, “Could these be a hint? [Cause] they are everywhere now.” The attached screenshot showed a Night Corp advertisement that read, “Travel from Chicago to Night City in under three hours. Worry-free. Coming in 2080.”
As such, fans are wondering whether Project Orion will be set in Chicago in 2080. Personally, I’m dubious. I can understand the date and location looking a tad suspicious but given how long these posters have been around, I do wonder if such a hint would’ve been planted so far in advance. “I doubt they will leave [Night City] for Chicago, but I could see 2080 being the next setting for Orion,” wrote HavenTheCat.
While it would be a shame to leave Night City, it also would be disappointing not to explore somewhere new. Just look at how one of the main criticisms Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 faced was that New York felt too similar to how it did in the first game. For now, I think we’ll have to sit tight and let developers quietly beaver away at the distant sequel.
