Cyberpunk 2077 has reportedly seen an absolutely massive increase in sales since the launch of the new-gen patch earlier this year.
CD Projekt RED's long-awaited sci-fi RPG was, to put it mildly, a hot mess when it released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One towards the end of 2020. Constant crashes, and a multitude of game-breaking bugs and horrible visuals completely marred the experience.
While the game ran significantly better on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the only true "new-gen" experience at that time was on high-end PCs. Sony and Microsoft's new-gen machines were more capable of running the game, but they were still running the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game, along with all the issues that entailed.

Through thousands of complaints and refund requests, CDPR quietly continued to work on Cyberpunk 2077 and improve it on last-gen consoles as much as it could. Full disclosure: it still kind of sucks on PS4/Xbox One. But the good news is that February 2022 saw the launch of a full new-gen patch that drastically improved the game on PS5/Xbox Series X/S.
If you've yet to check it out, the proper new-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 feels like a whole new game. It runs better. It looks better. It feels better. Everything about it is drastically improved, and finally delivers something close to the experience we were promised back in 2020.
Given this, it's rather heartening to see that the new-gen update has resulted in a whopping 600% sales boost. As reported by Twinfinite, CD Projekt's latest financial report boasted heavily of the new-gen release and the increased sales on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
While CD Projekt didn't give away exact numbers, Forbes was able to analyse one of the slides from the presentation to determine that PlayStation sales jumped by 600% post-update, while Xbox leapt up by 800%.

It's worth noting, of course, this could mean that before the update Cyberpunk 2077 had shifted just 1000 copies with 6000/8000 after the patch. Without exact numbers, it's hard to quantify just how impressive this really is.
Still, for now it certainly looks like Cyberpunk 2077 is back on track and finally winning over fans after a disastrous launch. We love a comeback story.
