September is shaping up to be a stacked month when it comes to gaming. There’s Baldur’s Gate 3, The Crew: Motorfest, Lies of P, Mortal Kombat 1, Payday 3, Starfield … the list goes on. Today though, we’re here to discuss Cyberpunk 2077’s major upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty.
In our opportunity to go hands-on with Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty at Summer Game Fest, we said that the expansion completes the RPG’s redemption, adding that “Phantom Liberty is shaping up to be the victory lap that Cyberpunk 2077 deserves.” In the weeks since, it’s been revealed that players of Cyberpunk 2077 will benefit from some of Phantom Liberty’s improvements without the need of purchasing the expansion, such as the introduction of vehicular combat to the game. The DLC will also unlock a new story ending and will add new romances for V. It’s now been discovered that Phantom Liberty will also bring back one of the base game’s best characters.
Take a look at Phantom Liberty in action below.
As reported by ScreenRant, Phantom Liberty will include a returning celebrity cameo - and no, I’m not talking about Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand. Musician Grimes, real name Claire Elise Boucher, will return as Lizzy Wizzy. As a reminder, Lizzy Wizzy is an in-game artist known for her performance art and unique music. She’s encountered during the ‘Violence’ side quest in which you’ll spy on her partner.

We don’t know what role Lizzy Wizzy will play in Phantom Liberty but she’ll seemingly pop up in some capacity. ScreenRant suggests that Lizzy may have connections to President Rosalind Myers thanks to her celebrity status. Regardless, it does mean that we’ll likely have more Grimes songs playing across Cyberpunk 2077’s airwaves.
Grimes took to Twitter herself, simply stating, “I’m back in Night City.” Keeping it vague, I see. We’ll be able to dive into Phantom Liberty on 26 September.
