Fans of the iconic strategy series Company of Heroes will no doubt be aware that Company of Heroes 3 is finally happening - it’s set to release on PC on 23 February next year, almost a full decade after Company of Heroes 2.
“Bigger and better than ever, Company of Heroes 3 combines heart-pounding combat with deeper strategic choices in a stunning Mediterranean theatre of war,” the game’s description on Steam reads. “In Company of Heroes 3, every battle tells a story...what's yours?”

What’s more, the new title is set to include “the biggest single player campaign in franchise history”, with the new Dynamic Campaign Map set to deliver a “full ‘sandbox-style’ gameplay, allowing players to command the overall war effort and experience an unprecedented level of strategic choice”. Exciting stuff.
Advert
As Gematsu reports, until now, we’ve been under the impression that the game is releasing exclusively on PC. However, it now seems that it might be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, too, as it’s been apparently been rated for these platforms (as well as PC) by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee.
If this is true, it’s a pretty big deal - no previous Company of Heroes game has ever released on console before, so it’d be a first for the series. As such, it also remains to be seen how the devs would adapt the controls to better suit playing this way.
At the time of writing, neither SEGA or developers Relic Entertainment have confirmed whether this information is accurate - it could just be an error. Fingers crossed that it’s true, though - the decision to release the title on consoles could introduce the series to a whole load of new players, which can only be a good thing.
