This is a red alert - any tasks you’re putting off, hobbies you want to try, or places you want to go, do them right now before it’s too late.
A new Civilization game is in development, which means that anything that you’ve not sorted out before it releases simply isn’t going to happen. The turn-based strategy series is known for being incredibly engrossing, and given that Civilization VI released all the way back in 2016, it’s fair to say that we’re due for a new release.
Take a look at the trailer for Civilization VI’s battle royale mode, Red Death, below.
As GGRecon reports, developer Firaxis Games is getting a new company head, Heather Hazen, who has promised to “build the best strategy games on the plane”. Luckily for Civilization fans, a new instalment in the series is part of this plan.

“I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to carry on the studio’s storied legacy, beginning with the announcement that Firaxis is in development on the next iteration of the legendary Civilization franchise,” Hazen said. “I'm lucky to be working with some of the best developers in our industry, and we have plans to take the Civilization franchise to exciting new heights for our millions of players around the world.”
Additionally, it’s been confirmed that the studio will continue supporting Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which in our review, we said was “2022’s best superhero game”. We weren’t the only ones to rate it highly - the tactical RPG proved to be quite the hit, so it’s nice to know that it’s going to get more love by the devs.
At the time of writing, it’s not known when we can expect Civilization VII to release. Heck, we don’t even know if it’ll be called that, but assuming that it’s another mainline instalment, it checks out. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get some updates.
