The announcement that Chris Pratt would be voicing Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros film caused quite the stir when it was revealed this time last year. Suffice to say, the word "cursed" was thrown around a fair amount, and as with all good things, the Internet responded to the film’s casting news with memes. Since then, Pratt has promised that his take on Mario is “unlike anything you’ve heard.” Well, we could be tuning in for the first time very soon.
Speaking of Mario, check out the incredible trailer for Universal Studios Hollywood’s Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.
That’s right. We’re finally going to get a trailer for Super Mario Bros. The film, which is being made by Illumination, will officially be released on 7 April, 2023. As we’re now just over five months away from release, Illumination will drop the first teaser trailer on 6 October at New York Comic Con.

We’re not quite sure what to expect from this film. Everything we’ve heard so far is... interesting to say the least, but Pratt himself has given his thoughts on the trailer. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “I just saw the teaser trailer for the very first time myself. I am simply blown away. You will be too, I promise you. This one is very special. Cannot wait.”
In case you missed it, the rumoured plot of Super Mario Bros leaked a few months ago. Of course, take this with a pinch of salt, but the leak suggested that the film would be a musical featuring a plumbing song sung by Mario and Luigi. I won’t lie. I really want to see this film.
