I’m yet to meet a single person who doesn’t think that Brendan Fraser is lovely. The actor, best known for his roles in The Mummy and George of the Jungle, has been making a comeback lately. He stars in the new psychological drama film, The Whale, which is yet to hit cinemas, but has been receiving tremendous praise at festival screenings.
The actor recently received an award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and noted how the experience was pretty much totally new to him: “Apart from being a part of some impressive and talented ensemble casts, I think the last time that I waited to hear my name called aloud to receive an award was in grade four, and it was from the peewee bowling league,” he said at the time.

Despite The Whale’s success though, the Fraser wouldn’t be opposed to going back to The Mummy. In an interview with Variety, the actor spoke about his experience with The Mummy films, and why he believes that the reboot starring Tom Cruise didn’t land as well with fans.

“It is hard to make that movie. The ingredient that we had going for our Mummy, which I didn’t see in that film, was fun,” he said, speaking of Tom Cruise’s 2017 movie. “That was what was lacking in that incarnation. It was too much of a straight-ahead horror movie. The Mummy should be a thrill ride, but not terrifying and scary. […] I know how difficult it is to pull it off. I tried to do it three times.”
He went on to say that he'd be down to revisit the franchise, but only under the right conditions: “I don’t know how it would work,” he said. “But I’d be open to it if someone came up with the right conceit.”
Not too long ago, a wholesome TikTok went viral online in which Fraser teared up after being told by a fan how much everyone supports him. Which, y’know, only made everyone rally behind him even more. We love you, Brendan Fraser.
