Bounty Star does exactly what it says on the tin - it's a tense and colourful mech shooter set in a strange post-apocalyptic future of the American Southwest.
Now I know for a lot of you reading this, that'll be enough to sell the game, and I respect your highly specific interests. Let's carry on for those who want a few more boxes ticked before they're on board. From developer DINOGOD, Bounty Star mixes more than mech action, offering players the opportunity to base build and create a hardy outpost for our protagonist Clementine to return to following excursions to the Red Expanse.
Take a look at the trailer here:
Furthermore, the Desert Raptor MKII mech (could this game be any more American?) is customisable to whatever approach suits the threats of the wilds. There are a range of offensive and defensive systems like high-powered melee weapons, steam powered hydraulic siege weapons, explosive firearms, high-speed thrusters, riot shields and boosters to nimbly nip out of harm's way. I don't think it's a major stretch to say it's giving Titanfall meets Red Dead.
Advert
As a bounty hunter, Clem will only truly know her target when she initiates combat with them, and it's incredibly important to ensure she's always got the upper hand. Sure, that applies to her arsenal of gadgets and guns, as well as her home. Her base will grow with water and power supply lines, an armory to forge ammunition, space for crops, and even raise livestock. When it comes to surviving the apocalypse, you certainly could do worse.
Excitingly, Xbox players will get to enjoy this game on Game Pass regardless of their generation of console, and it'll also be arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam some time in 2023.
