Over the years comic book to video game adaptations has been a little tainted offering more flops than critical successes, at least during the early years.
Before Superheroes were able to turn a corner in the world of video games, we had to make do with the likes of Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis (2003), Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000) and the dreaded Superman 64 (1999).
That’s not to say we didn't get one or two gems, such as the TMNT Arcade (1989), Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (2006) to name but a few. However, some say that such adaptations didn't really turn a corner until 2009 with Batman: Arkham Asylum, a game which many consider to be the best superhero game of all time.
Developed by Rocksteady Studios, the Batman Akrham series would later spawn two sequels as well as a prequel which was outsourced to WB Games Montreal. Not including any spin-offs, the last mainline entry in this series was Batman: Arkham Knight which was released in 2015.

Granted, at least on PC, Batman: Arkham Knight had a troubled lunch, but from what I could tell at the time, console players were having an absolute blast in the latest Caped Crusader entry. Like the entries that came before, Batman: Arkham Knight would prove to be a critical success with scores as high as 87 on Metacritic.
It’s now been eight years since the launch of Batman: Arkham Knight and some fans have been reflecting on what is considered by some to be one of the greatest action games of all time.
“8 years ago today, Rocksteady delivered one of THE greatest action video games of ALL-TIME in ‘Arkham Knight’,” said Twitter account @ArkhamNumb.

“Absolutely gorgeous graphics that still hold up a generation later. 360/PS3 to One/PS4 was peek graphical jump,” replied @AidanSeunarine. “I couldn’t care less that it sometimes had a bad rep, it’s easily my favourite Arkham game,” added @kuba_c14. “Favorite game of all time. The sheer fluidity of the gameplay is second to none,” agreed @sw_jango.
In related news, fans agree that Batman: Arkham Knight needs a proper new-gen upgrade and a God of War star wants to play a character in a Batman game. Some of you may also be interested to know that Batman: Arkham Trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch this Autumn.
