Baldur’s Gate 3 was the uncontested game of the year back in 2023, and all of the praise it earned drew millions of new players to the 20-year-old franchise.
As a result, most people never actually played the first two games in the series before jumping into its third entry.
No shame in that, considering some of you probably weren’t even alive when the OG Baldur's Gate dropped back in 1998.

However, you are missing out if you haven’t played the first two. I actually think they’ve aged pretty well, all things considered, so it’s not too late to jump in and give them a go.
And if you do fancy doing so, then I have some great news for you - if you’re an Amazon Prime Gaming subscriber, that is.
Both Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition are currently free to claim over on Amazon’s Prime Gaming site, provided that you have an active Prime subscription.
Both titles can be claimed through GoG and will be yours to keep forever once you do.

Plus, there are actually a lot of other banger games you can also claim through Prime Gaming at the moment, such as Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, The Outer Worlds, Spelunky, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.
There’s a special reason these specific titles are being given away for free at the moment too, because most of the games that are currently available will be featured in Amazon’s upcoming video game anthology series Secret Level.
This includes Baldur’s Gate, although details regarding how it will feature in Secret Level are pretty sparse.
The only thing we really know for sure is that Tiamat, one of the deities featured in Baldur’s Gate, will be showing up at some point in Amazon’s new show.

We won’t have to wait long to find out however, as Secret Level drops in less than four days on December 10.
