The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows will finally take the series to Japan after years of fans asking for it, but there’s one other time and place fans would love to see - the Roman Empire.
On Reddit, one fan proposed the question, “Do you guys think a future Assassin’s creed could happen in Rome?”
“I still can't believe we never got a follow-up to Origins. The second Roman civil war seems prime for an AC story,” comments ShawshankException.
Another player thought it was a great idea, saying, “I would love an odyssey style game set in Rome.”

Sadly, the future of Ubisoft as we know it is precarious currently, with the company looking to be sold on to new investors.
You’d have to imagine the Assassin’s Creed series will continue in some form, though.
One fan thinks it’s a guarantee, “It will happen, not soon, but it will happen as long as Ubisoft keeps making AC games. It has way too much potential, so many remarkable moments, emperors, chariot racing, gladiators arena, conquering wars, the Senate.”
Throughout the thread there are people in agreement with one Redditor commenting, “It would be very interesting, following the entire creation of Hidden Ones in Rome would be very satisfying to see.”

Who knows what’s next after Japan, some would love to see China take centre stage, but Ancient Rome is uniting many players who want to head back to Italy.
