Details on Assassin's Creed Red are thin on the ground. We know a few details here and there; the game will be set in feudal Japan and feature a pair of assassins as the protagonists, but apart from that, we're left guessing.
In a now removed LinkedIn update, we were treated to an image of a female character wielding a katana, thanks to writer Pierre Boudreau. The character is seen with a dark grey robe and long dark hair, posed with the katana held behind her. We knew one of the protagonists was female, so it's great to see this update.
The Assassin's Creed Red reveal shows very little.
In the LinkedIn image, which was used as a banner image on the writer's profile, we also got a glimpse of the new logo. In the logo, the familiar 'A' shape is seen in a more painterly style reminiscent of brush strokes used for Kanji.

Fans have been asking for a female protagonist for many years after seeing so many male assassins through the years. The image appeared on Access The Animus social media after it was passed to them via Discord. Sadly, conversation is already turning into a debate about the validity of female assassins while also commenting on her looks. The second protagonist is rumoured to be a man of African heritage, which is another great step in the direction of diversity that Ubisoft has been championing. He is "understood to be an African refugee, who learned the way of the Creed."
The most recent Assassin's Creed game, Mirage, took us to the Middle East, more specifically, Baghdad. The series is known and renowned for travelling around the world and visiting beautiful cities, as well as intriguing eras from the past. The praise recently heaped on Mirage for its authentic look at Baghdad bodes well for a brilliant visit to ancient Japan.
