Assassin’s Creed Origins hailed as the ‘best of the RPG trilogy’ by fans.
Over the years the Assassin’s Creed series has morphed into something quite different than what it used to be. During its earliest years, there was more of an emphasis on stealth and less so on RPG elements. To be fair, the RPG elements were once practically non-existent.
For some, 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins was the moment when the Ubisoft series concentrated a little less on stealth and more on being an open-world RPG game. Though, utilising stealth is still a viable option.

That being said, we could argue that much of the RPG groundwork was laid during the releases of Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014) and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015), both of which adopted an RPG-inspired skill tree system in which players could choose how to upgrade the playable character.
However, the emphasis on RPG elements was certainly more of a focus in Origins and for some, this entry in the series represented the best of Ubisoft’s RPG trilogy which also consists of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Yet, Origins isn't the highest scoring ‘RPG’ entry on Metacritic, because that crown belongs to Odyssey.
Fans on Reddit have been discussing their love for Assassin’s Creed Origins, a game set in ancient Egypt during the Age of the Pharaoh. “Assassin’s Creed Origins is so good,” Redditor PursuitOfHapiness opened up the discussion on the thread.

“The game is lovely, everything about it, the way the world is built is just so good and aesthetic,” they continued. “This might be an unpopular opinion but somehow I ended up liking it even more than Odyssey, the story was so much better and so was the main character, the world is so rich and detailed, and it doesn’t feel as bloated as Odyssey felt sometimes.”
“From what I've heard, Origins is the best of the RPG trilogy,” replied MrMangobrick. “I think Origins is the best game I've played. I've really tried with Odyssey, but it hasn't clicked - I just can't get into it,” agreed Crayon_Casserole.
“Dude, Bayek is written so well and even Abu Bakar Saleem's performance makes it even better. Bayek is in the top 3 best protagonists,” said AHMED_ZEIAD. “Origins story always felt like a proper Assassin’s Creed story at heart to me. With a lot of emotional weight. Bayek and Aya deserved a trilogy” pleaded SadKazoo.
In related news, we were recently treated to the gameplay reveal for Assassin’s Creed Mirage during the PlayStation Showcase. Unlike the ‘RPG trilogy’, Mirage is taking us back to basics with good old-fashioned stealth being the emphasis once more.
