Despite being a game about assassins, Assassin’s Creed isn’t a dark franchise. It has its moments, but by and large it walks the line.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe is said to cross said line.
What we know about the upcoming title is quite limited because Ubisoft is keeping details close to the chest for the time being.

All that’s known thus far is the release date that was teased earlier this year, as well as the feminine energy the game is said to bring.
The occult is strong in Assassin's Creed Hexe
The lead protagonist, Elsa, is rumoured to be heavily involved with the occult, too. All in all, it sounds like we’re in for a spooky time when Hexe finally launches.

It’s refreshing to see the predictable format changed after so many years of familiarity. Granted, Ubisoft has been trying to innovate the series for some time now; however, its plans haven't always been well received.
From Valhalla being a great RPG but bad AC title, to the backlash and attempts to get the upcoming AC Shadows cancelled, the franchise is dogged by upset “fans”.
Undoubtedly, Hexe is destined to face some form of idiotic ire from the fandom, especially if it strays even further from the traditional AC way.
Nevertheless, while fans' hackles are already up, we’re on tenterhooks to see just how much Ubisoft will embrace the macabre; we hope it leans into the creepiness and the weird.

Before we experience any of that, or even hope to, there’s AC Shadows first. Although it won’t be nearly as supernaturally charged, we’re excited to see how the characters’ stories unfold.
It feels like Assassin’s Creed is entering a new era, one which is more comfortable to play around with generic tropes the franchise has relied on so heavily.
With Hexe set to be its “darkest” instalment yet, we’re eager to see what else Ubisoft has cooking.
