Ubisoft has just added a little something special to multiple Assassin’s Creed games on Steam, and (in classic Ubisoft fashion) that has somehow managed to annoy some fans.
So, Ubisoft just added achievements to a bunch of Assassin’s Creed titles on Steam, such as Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and Assassin's Creed Rogue.
That’s great, right? Well, as it turns out, no.

As one user over on the r/assassinscreed subreddit notes, it’s a bit pointless adding achievements to Assassin’s Creed III… because you can’t actually buy the game.
“Also its actually wild they acknowledge the original AC3 by giving it achievements yet they wont give us the option to either buy it or package it together with Remaster (like some good developers eg. Neighbours from Hell) do,” commented user HyperrGamesDev.
“And another thing; they added achievements to AC3: Remaster, yet they wont update the f**king ugly screenshot Steam banner, they have good promotional art they can use… I hate Ubisoft so much.”
So, I did a little digging and it turns out, yeah, you can’t actually find Assassin’s Creed III on Steam - even though they just added achievements to it.

You can find Assassin’s Creed III Remastered on Steam, but all the comments on the negative reviews for the game on Steam are just people complaining about how it runs worse than the original version - which has since been pulled from the Steam storefront.
So why was the original version pulled, and why bother giving it achievements if you can’t even buy it anymore?
Well, I can’t answer the last half of that question but I can answer the first; it seems redeeming the game was such a headache, due to a “technical issue” Ubisoft was having with the Deluxe Edition of the game, that they just opted to remove it from the Steam storefront entirely.
That’s some classic Ubisoft logic right there.
