Sometimes Reddit conversations can dig up some golden memories. In a recent post a user posed a great question, "What are some franchises where the second game is the best one?"
The top reply is for Age of Empires II with u/Kiwi_OW saying "Been playing it for over 23 years and it’s still a banger, especially with the Definitive Edition now. Great game, never gets boring, 10/10 best title in the series." Over 1.9K users agree with that suggestion.
The most recent iteration in the Age of Empires series won over a lot of fans
There are plenty of great games mentioned after that, it's like a greatest hits list. Among the choices are Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005, Titanfall 2 gets a mention, and u/RayBanane says "What better choice than Street Fighter II?"

It's only when you see lists like this that you get a good view of just how many sequels slap; probably a larger percentage than film sequels.
Here's a quick rundown of some other games suggested by Redditors: Silent Hill 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 2. The latter of these was expanded by u/BrandoCalrissian1995 who said "Assassins creed 2 was about as perfect as a sequel can get. Took all the negatives from 1 and fixed them while expanding on all the things people liked about 1."
Portal 2 obviously appeared, Diablo 2 popped up when suggested by a few users, as did Halo 2. "I think Uncharted 2 was the peak of the series." was mentioned by u/seabterry and plenty agreed mentioning the opening train scene. Interestingly not many people voted for Half Life 2, which felt like a shoe-in.
This is a great question to put to the GAMINGbible team, so let's see what they say - Resident Evil 2 on the original PlayStation; Mass Effect 2 got a mention; we had someone say Assassin's Creed 2 also; Fable 2; And I thought more people would say Red Dead Redemption 2.
