Oh, how the mighty fall. Flashback to October and November and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and the subsequent Warzone 2.0 were the talk of town for all the right reasons. Now? Not so much.
Modern Warfare II had the most successful Call of Duty launch of all-time. Fans praised the “incredible campaign” and the new anti-camping tool. One month later, Warzone 2.0 released with proximity chat going down a storm - and making for some very memorable moments. Recently though, fans have been threatening to boycott both games, complaining of lacklustre updates. Some MWII players have claimed that Shipment is ‘ruining’ the game and now, Warzone 2.0 players are confessing that they hardly play the title anymore.
Take a look at Warzone 2.0 in action below.
Twitter fan account ModernWarzone ran a poll asking, “Do you still play Warzone regularly?” and the results are staggering. A whopping 78% of participants voted for no, with just 22% saying they do play regularly. The sample size was made up of 74,087. Yikes. That’s quite a frightening number.

It’s natural for interest to wane. We see it happen with every game because there’s always going to be a lot more interest and hype surrounding launch but still, this is quite a drastic fall. If you take a peek at Steam Charts, you’ll see that Warzone 2.0 has an all-time concurrent Steam player peak of 488,897. In the last 24 hours, the peak sat at 92,115 which is a hefty fall - although still a respectable number of players.
It could be worse. I’m more of a Fall Guys person when it comes to multiplayers which has an all-time Steam peak of 172,026 but a 24-hour peak of just 2,614. Now that is cause for concern. Still, Warzone 2.0 could do with a well-received update it seems.
