The connections between John and Arthur are vague when it comes to directly mentioning the relationship in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Many fans believe more should have been made of the two’s connections after all, the two are like brothers and yet this relationship is almost downplayed in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption and its sole expansion are now available on PC
You’d think that with the two of them running together in gangs and growing so close Arthur would be mentioned by John a lot more.

However, it’s only in a very brief moment during the game’s epilogue when John says, “I don’t like to talk about him…but I think of him a lot.”
Some fans feel pretty shortchanged by the lack of context and dialogue. Of course, the game tells a very specific story, but the fanbase has attachments to these characters.
It’s justified by one Redditor who says, “There isn’t that much reason to talk about him throughout the story. He has been dead for twelve years at this point and the gang members have had to move on.”
Another user sees it as a smart narrative move, “It's not that he doesn't like to talk about him, because he remembers Arthur every day, it's just that it makes him sad.”

Of course, we all want more when it comes to games like this.
The interactions and moments of history fill out the game incredibly so it’s understandable that people want more.
A few comments mention how fans would love to see this history expanded in a remastered version of the original game.
“Honestly before an RDR3 I’d like a remastering of RDR 1 and 2 that properly joins the 2 together. References, graves visits, survivor visits, that kind of stuff,” says another Redditor.

This is unlikely to happen as Rockstar tend to hone their narratives pretty strictly, so for now we’ll have to make do with what we have.
